​Mr Molobela holds a BSc (Eng) Honours degree from the Imperial College (London University) and an MBA from the Imperial College Business School (London University) and has extensive experience in the financial services industry. He has conducted mineral related research in Europe and America and has managed a number of large engineering projects as projects director. Mr Molobela has worked as a senior analyst for stock broking firms listed on the JSE and has also been hired as a financial consultant on a number of finance type projects.

Mr Molobela was involved in the listing of Primegro Properties Limited in 1999 and CBS Properties Limited in 2005: both of these became successful listed property funds on the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange). In 2007, Mr Molobela was involved in the development and implementation of a nationwide Wi-Fi telecoms project and was responsible for developing a business plan for Wi-Max roll out project for submission to ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa).

Mr Molobela’s present Directorships as follows:​​
  • Chairman of the Board: South African Bureau of Standards
  • Chairman of the Board: SACorp – A listed property fund on the JSE
  • Non-Exec Director: Afrisam – A major cement producer in South Africa
  • Non-Exec Director: N3TC – A toll road Concessionaire, N3 Route to Durban

Mr Molobela’s past Directorships are as follows:

  • Chairman of the Board: Telkom Limited; a major telecoms company
  • Non-Exec Director: Africon (Now Aurecon) an Engineering Consultancy
  • Non-Exec Director: Transnet; a major freight rail and ports company
  • Non-Exec Director: Growthpoint; the largest JSE listed property fund
  • Decillion Limited: A listed financial serviced company
